Why Some Laser Treatments Are Not Summer-Safe

We love lasers at PureSKIN - but we love healthy skin even more.
Treatments like BBL, and others, work by targeting pigment, stimulating collagen, or removing the top layers of skin to reveal a fresher layer underneath. They’re powerful, effective, and transformative - but they also temporarily make your skin more vulnerable to the sun.

Here’s why we typically hold off on these during peak summer:

  • Increased sun sensitivity: Your skin is more reactive to UV rays after laser, which can lead to hyperpigmentation, burns, or uneven healing.

  • Tans confuse the laser: Many lasers target pigment, and even a mild tan can confuse the technology—leading to ineffective treatment or risk of unwanted results.

  • More time outside = more risk: Pool days, lake trips, and even long walks in the sun can undo the progress you’re trying to make with pigment or texture correction.

That doesn’t mean you have to hit pause on all progress—just switch to summer-smart alternatives (like facials, microneedling, and IV therapy) and save the big lasers for fall. We’ll be ready for your post-summer reset when the time is right.
